Makeshift bike seat

Mimi, Oliver and I had seen this appalling contraption in use around the neighbourhood but yesterday was the first time I spotted it parked and unoccupied.



Yes, that's a milk crate with part of the top and side cut away to allow a child to sit in it.



There appears to be a piece of plywood forming the seating surface (for comfort or perhaps to avoid an incriminating waffle print on the child's behind) and the roughness of the sawn edges is mitigated by the application of duct tape. I couldn't tell how the crate was attached to the bike.
