Time

Oliver: I'm little.
Me: You're getting bigger.
Oliver. Yeah. I'm two.
Me: You're almost three!
Oliver: Yeah, I'm a quarter to three.

One-liner

The scene: the changing room after swimming. Several boys, about 12 years old, are goofing around. One puts his shorts on his head, another dares him to walk home with them on.

Oliver, until then quietly drinking some milk, stops, points and says:

'That's not a safe place for his underwear!'

The whole changing room erupts in helpless laughter, and I feel proud of his timing and his sense of the absurd.

Cheeky

Oliver is now able to climb out of his crib.

At the park:
Me (helping Oliver onto the climbing frame): Up you go, little monkey.
Oliver: I need your help, big monkey.
