Some assembly required

Oliver, watching me put together his new chest of drawers from Ikea:

'Thanks for screwing that up, Daddy'.

Bathtime boardgame

Oliver arranged some of his foam letters on the side of the bathtub to read HANDLE one evening while with a babysitter.

Me: Did you do that the other night?
Oliver: Yep. (adds an R and an S to make HANDLERS)
Me: Hey, now you can play Scrabble!
Oliver: Yeah, I wanted to play Scravel.

Beatrix Potter, as read by Oliver

(reading from his Beatrix Potter mug)

'Once upon a time there were four bunnies. Their names were Floppy .. [after some prompting] Mopsy, Carlton and Peter'.

It's probably no surprise that Oliver should think of a streetcar line on encountering the name of Cottontail.

Oliver can read this! (Without being prompted!)

I think it's a good indication of how many of the words he recognizes come from signs on the transit system.
